Violet Vale from Anne of Green Gables immediately comes to mind whenever I think of violets. According to Wikipedia, these modest beauties became New Brunswick's provincial flower in 1931, with the help of Women's Institutes and school children.
Supplies:
- dark purple, white and green felt
- white embroidery floss
- glue gun glue
Tools
- needle for embroidery floss
- scissors
- glue gun
1) Cut out the pieces
2) Embroider large lower petal with 3 or more stitches in a fan shape.
3) Fold and glue flaps of white felt back onto itself (rolling felt up and down)
4) Assemble the petals: Attach the smaller tear shaped pieces to each side of the heart shaped piece. Attach the white stamin felt piece to the lower petal piece near the base of the embroidery.
5) Finish assembling flower, by adding glue under the white stamin attach the top petals, centering the stamin between the side petals. Attach leaf as desired (the pointed end of the heart shaped leaf should point away from the flower).
