DIY Wool Moccasins

My moccasins had finally fallen apart. Made of deer skin, with the prettiest beaded flower motif, they were a gift from my friend up north. In the future I plan on reusing their parts to make new leather moccasins. In the meantime (and on the current budget), I have created some indoor wool  moccasins as a practice run.  References/ walk throughs used: Making Moccasins with Veronica Dokis How to make moccasins (Sarah Peters) parts 1-3 Supplies: felted/ preshrunk wool fabric  fusible webbing - in order to glue both sides together upholstery thread leather lacing large pieces of paper string if it helps with measuring Optional: faux leather eyelets  Tools: sewing needle pins scissors pen or pencil   1) first thing is to trace your foot on to a piece of paper. DIY Canvas Goddess Vase

If you live in a big city and have a tiny apartment and no money, well then you are like me. I had a lot of this pre primed/ gesso'd (not sure that's a real word, we just used it in art school) canvas from a failed experiment, so I decided to use it to cover some unsightly jars and cans. The nice thing is, is that the canvas is waterproof, perfect for use with real flowers. Extra bonus is that they store flat for reuse later. This is how I did it: Supplies:  pre primed canvas  paint  a can or clean jar   optional, but recommended: paper and pencil for creating the template  mod podge or glue Tools:  scissors  paint brushes  ruler  tape measure or string  optional: some heavy books for drying the glue/ modpodge flat 1) Measure along the side of the can (I'm just going to use can here on out). Basically you want to measure half of the circumference. Then add at least 1cm so that the canvas can slip on and off with relative ease...

No Sew Hedgehog Finger Puppet

Marshall McLuhan said invention is the mother of necessity. While I don't think anyone needs a hedgehog finger puppet, this little guy was invented as the result of a failed experiment / realization I have a lot of this dollar store fake fur trim - and I like the results! By adding white tips to the "spines" in the final steps, they really are reminiscent of my mother's childhood Steiff toy "Joggi". Here is how I make them (no sew version) : Supplies: white/ or grey/ or brown felt for the body (different colours for different regions Europe / Africa / Asia) tan felt for the face ears and limbs black felt for the eyes micro pompoms (3-5mm), or you can cover the tip of the face piece with dark brown white acrylic paint (optional) glue gun glue Tools: small craft glue gun (an industrial one will be too hot and will hard to control on such a small piece) scissors 1) cut out all of your pieces 2) starting with the main body piece, fold the felt over so it overlap...
